Questions:
Is Radilene® environmentally-friendly and compatible with human health?
The Radici Elastomeri production process is UNI EN ISO 9001 certified. All of the company’s products are guaranteed to comply with the most stringent environmental regulations. Radilene® plastic compounds can be used for diverse applications, both traditional and innovative, whenever the product needs to be 100% non-toxic. In the artificial grass sector in particular, an important potential health problem concerning football pitches installed in Italy has been addressed by the Italian Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS – National Health Institute). Moreover, the same issue has arisen in a number of other European countries. In many cases, trace amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination has been found in synthetic turf. Traces of toluene, benzene and zinc in quantities higher than the allowable concentrations have also been discovered. PAHs are cancerous compounds, while zinc is a highly toxic heavy metal. These substances usually originate from the infill used in the installation of synthetic turf playing fields.Radici Elastomer’s Radilene® portfolio not only gives excellent qualitative performance but is also environmentally friendly and absolutely safe for human health. All Radilene® products are guaranteed to be processable and recyclable. Not only does RadiciGroup’s Radilene® meet the qualitative standards required by our customers, but it is also completely non-toxic. Pipes made of Radilene® do not contain harmful chemicals that could migrate into liquids transported by them. This is a significant advantage, especially for domestic use, since water cannot be contaminated by chemicals migrating from the pipes.
What about RadiciGroup and Radici Elastomeri Srl?
RadiciGroup is a multinational industrial group with worldwide operations diversified into chemicals, plastics, fibres and textile machinery. The Group did not start manufacturing polyethylene plastics for the construction sector until the founding of Radici Elastomeri Srl in 2008. Thus the new production facilities at this Italian subsidiary have allowed the Group to enhance its product range significantly. RadiciGroup’s polyethylene compounds (LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and MDPE) are marketed under the brand name Radilene®, chiefly for applications in the construction sector.
